About this bottle

Buzzard’s Roost Toasted Rye is a whiskey from Buzzard’s Roost. Bottled at 105 proof (52.5% ABV).

From the producer

Buzzard’s Roost Toasted Barrel Rye is a standout expression that redefines expectations of rye whiskey by showcasing the beauty of toasted—but not charred—barrels. Designed to emphasize sweetness, smoke, and confection, each toasted-only barrel is carefully crafted with a proprietary toast profile that draws out bold, rich aromas and flavors. At 105 proof, this expression remains remarkably smooth and creamy, making it a favorite among both seasoned enthusiasts and new whiskey drinkers alike, thanks to its dominant sweet character.

From the very first nosing, Toasted Barrel Rye delivers an intoxicating bouquet of dessert-inspired notes—pumpkin pie, bread pudding, crème brûlée, and the comforting warmth of freshly toasted wood. The palate mirrors this sweetness with a rich and creamy texture, while the sharp spice from the 95% rye mash bill adds balance, grit, and depth to the experience. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering notes of vanilla and wafer that leave a gentle impression on the tongue.

Like all Buzzard’s Roost whiskeys, this rye is aged in proprietary barrels developed in partnership with our cooperage, with each one adding unique character—like spices in a rack—to create new and intriguing flavor profiles. Every release evolves, but the quality remains constant: always bold, always innovative, and always delicious.
